UK Student Visa Financial Requirements 2026 (England & UK Study Visa)
To qualify for a UK Student Visa, you must prove you have enough money to pay for both your first-year course tuition fees and your monthly living costs (maintenance funds). Below are the exact 2026 UKVI rates and bank statement rules.
1. Living Cost Thresholds (Inside vs Outside London)

2. How to Calculate Total Required Bank Balance
Total Bank Balance = (1st Year Tuition Fee on CAS − Deposit Paid on CAS) + (Monthly Living Cost × Up to 9 Months)
3. Acceptable vs Rejected Financial Evidence
✅ Accepted by UKVI
- Personal bank savings or current accounts
- Parent(s) bank accounts (with Birth Certificate + Signed Consent Letter)
- Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDR) / Term Deposits (with bank letter confirming funds can be withdrawn anytime without blocking)
- Official Educational Loan Letter (regulated by government/central bank)
- Official Government or University Scholarship Letter
❌ Strictly Rejected by UKVI
- Uncle, Aunt, Brother, Sister, or Grandparent accounts
- Company / Business bank accounts (even if owned by you or your father)
- Cryptocurrency, Stocks, Shares, Mutual Funds, or Bonds
- Credit cards, Overdraft facilities, or Property/Gold valuation certificates
- Microfinance banks or unregulated cooperative societies
4. The 28-Day Holding Rule & 31-Day Freshness Rule
Your total required money must be held in the bank account for at least 28 consecutive days. During these 28 days, the balance must never fall below the required amount—even for a few hours. Furthermore, the closing date of your bank statement must fall within 31 days before the date you submit and pay for your online visa application.
